I have just discovered joomla and wordpress. I have been messing around with wordpress on their site but would rather host it myself. Also when I was youtubing for tutorials on it I kept seeing joomla in results, when I read up on it I saw it looked GREAT! but it seems I need to host it somewhere to play with it.. unless they so a similar thing to wordpress that i missed!
I would like to know where I can get some free space … i tried 000webhost before, it was ok, i tried again in last few days and these errors keep coming up when i make a new account as i have NONE.. so i need somewhere similar to them.. i’m not too bothered about ads as it is only a practice but i would prefer none or very few.. i couldnt deal with all around the place full of ads!!
what do i need to look for when i am doing my searches to be able to host joomla AND wordpress? if they offer fantastico? cpanel? php? mysql? all? some? just one? you see I need help??
also i dont mind what kind of domain name i get with the free space.. it can be a really long useless one for now for all its worth. when i am done practicing I will then start looking for a paid host… not for a while tho!

Try installing XAMPP on your computer. Then you can run locally (you don’t even need an internet connection) and you’ll have full control over the server. It’s the same Apache, MySQL and PHP that you’ll get with paid hosting. And it’s a lot easier to edit files in C:xampphtdocs, then to have to FTP them up and down, even if you map a drive to the FTP address.
If you get the site running properly on XAMPP, all you have to do is FTP the entire htdocs folder to a paid site and (if you wrote it correctly) it’s running.
