Example lets say you were a company that had the ability to create domain names to sell….. what stopped any particular company from creating and hold for themselves all the good one word www names like … cooking.com , autos.com, or anything else you can imagine.. for themselves?

Nothing which is why you should buy and hold domains which you think will increase in value. However, beware that this is considered domain squatting and most people frowned on this practice. I believe in a free market and I don’t personally see any issues with this. Consider domain names like real estate. For those who purchased real estate 20 years ago, they are multi millionaires now … well at the internet is the same. These domain names (web properties) will and should increase in value should you pick up good domain names.
