Domain Names: What You Need to Know About Domain Names

The domain name is the first point of your website that people see before they even click through to your url. When your site shows up in the search engines or as a link on another site, your domain name will tell people what the site is about.

If your domain name is completely irrelevant to your site topic, then people are less likely to visit. In addition, if your domain name is very long or looks ’spammy,’ then the first impression is that your site is not very professional.

How to Find Good Domain Names

Choosing a good domain name is not difficult. Finding an available domain that you like can be tough; but if you search hard enough and take in all possibilities as far as where you can buy a domain, you will get lucky eventually.

You are not limited to buying domains from domain registrars. While it can be fun finding available domains and registering them, it can be even more exciting finding old, established domains which are for sale.

Where to Register Domain Names

There are many places where you can register domain names, including:

GoDaddy
Namecheap
eNom
Name.com
Moniker
Dynadot
Yahoo!
MyDomain
Dotster
Register.com

The above registrars are all ICANN accredited and provide .com, .net, .org, .info and many other extensions for registration.

Where to Buy Used Domain Names

If you want to buy domain names that are old, has page rank or would just rather not register a new domain, then you can search domain auctions and for sale websites.

Many forums have people selling domain names including forums like Digital Point, Sitepoint, DN Forum and Namepros. You will find many cheap domain names there, just do your due diligence to avoid being scammed. Research the history of the domain names before buying, and never spend more than $1000 on a domain name without paying through Escrow for safety reasons.

Alternatively, you can visit the domain name aftermarket from GoDaddy at tdnam.com. This site has tens of thousands of used domains for sale from $5 up to the six-figure mark. There are both auctions and buy it now listings there.

Other auction sites include Pool.com, Afternic, Sedo and SnapNames. You should become more familiar with domain terminology and market trends before buying domain names at auction, as the price can easily become out of hand.

Which Domain Extension Is Best?

In just about all cases, .com should be the domain name extension that you aim to acquire. There are a few exceptions to this, namely .org for non-profit organizations, .tv for sites focused on television, and international extensions for sites based in certain countries.

Regardless of which alternative extension you choose, aim to also own the .com version so that you protect your brand against copycats or competitors. .Com always has, and will probably always be, the most popular and well-known domain name extension.

Whichever method you choose to buy domain names, make sure they match your websites, are short and memorable, and will attract users to click through to your websites.

Know All Abot Domain Registration and Hosting

The domain name of a website is an unique identity on the web. By domain registration, a company or individual can host their own website and make their presence felt on the Internet. For registering a domain few simple steps need to be followed. First step is to figure out whether the domain name is available. There are different extensions available for domains. These are .com, .org and country specific registration such as .au, .in. and .uk. Once you are sure that your preferred domain name is available you need to go ahead and book the domain either in your name or the company’s name. After you register the domain, no other entity can stake claim to that domain unless you decide to drop or sell it.

The next step is to design and develop the website. You can either book your hosting space at the time of registering your domain or at a later date. If you think that it is important to test your website in a live environment then it is better to book the hosting space when you start development of the website. The web hosting company provides the disk space with a web server necessary to launch the site. All your website files will be hosted in this space. There are different types of hosting that are available and you need to understand which one suits your requirement the best. Windows hosting, Linux hosting and JSP are some of the common hosting packages offered by web hosting companies.

Web hosting companies offer different kinds of hosting packages. Depending upon your requirement you can choose the package that suits your requirements. For a personal or small business, you just need web space around 20MB to 100MB. The hosting package that you buy depends on the technologies on which you are developing the website. A website developed in ASP can be hosted with the Windows hosting package and not the Linux hosting. This is because Linux Server will not support ASP. Similarly there are different permutations and combinations which are available. If you are developing the site on open source tools like PHP and MySQL, you should prefer to buy Linux hosting.

It is important to consider the price being paid for a domain registration and hosting service. Nowadays hosting has become very cheap. Resellers buy huge amounts of disk space and sell them at cheap rates to end customers. A Linux Reseller Hosting company can sell space of 1GB for a year at a cost which may be equivalent to a restaurant bill. However, it is important to check out the support features that are available with the hosting company. The webmaster has to interact with the hosting company on a regular basis for support on various issues. So, jot down your requirements before you go ahead. Launch your website after several beta tests and I am sure you will have a great business venture.

Domain Registration – What you Need to Know

As your domain name is the name and address by which you’re known online, it’s the basis of your online identity. So it’s important to create the right domain name for your business. First we’ll look at how to choose the right domain name for your business from various companies who offer domain name registration in the UK.

Your domain name must be unique. Other than that, you have a lot of leeway in your choice. When you go onto any domain registration website, it would prompt you with a choice of similar possible web domain registration options. It can be anything between 2 and 67 characters long. Only alphanumeric characters and hyphens are allowed. Hyphens are not allowed at the beginning or end. You can use upper or lowercase characters, but it’s best to stick to lower case. If you were to choose longer domain names, sometimes you would be able to buy them from cheap domain registration companies, or if you were to buy a complete web hosting package, the domain registration company could offer you free domain registration.

Next you have to choose a top level domain (TLD) which is the extension at the end your domain name. Your options are .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .ws, and country-specific ones such as .uk. Most experts recommend going for .com or your country specific extension.

So what makes an effective domain name? Firstly it shouldn’t be too long as you want your customers to remember it easily. There’s less chance of someone making a mistake when typing it into a browser. If your company name is well known, you could incorporate that into your domain name. However, the trend nowadays is to base domain names on keywords relating to your product or service. This is a key component of search engine optimisation and search engine marketing.

After choosing your domain name you need to check if it is an available domain registration offered by any web hosting company. Many domain registration companies offer this service free of charge on their web sites, where you can get sometimes also find free domain registration. You simply enter your chosen name and it will search the domain registration databases and tell you if that name has been taken. If so, you can tweak it and check the new version for availability. Cheap domain registration is available by companies that include their company name in the URL, at times; it is possible to get them free from free domain registration companies. Domain hosting registration is a simple process, this can be done within minutes on any domain registration website and you could be online within minutes. Domain name registration in the UK has just recently started to take off, so there would be a lot of companies offering cheap domain registration and also free domain registration as promotional offers. This generally involves filling out a simple form on their web site and entering payment details. Costs range from $8 per annum and up depending on the TLD. You can also register for longer periods such as five years.

Domain registration is straightforward procedure but one that requires a lot of care. Fortunately, many firms exist to help you with the process. Some firms offer free domain registration but this is usually part of a domain hosting registration package. For domain name registration in the UK, there are many cheap domain registration firms around but look for one with a good track record. Your web hosting company and some web design companies offer domain registration services. The best deal of all can often be to entrust all your web site needs to one online marketing agency.

Want To Know Who Invented School?

Well, if you want to dig through all this info., it’s fine by me.
There are many answers to the question, “Who invented school?”, but no one really knows. See, school did spread first in Greece, but no one specifically thought of it FIRST. Many have thought of school, but we do not know who EMBRACED it. For example, if the pencil wasn’t invented, and you thought of this invention, SOMEONE else must have thought of it, too. so that’s why most people don’t bother embracing such. But no one is really sure who invented school >*!FIRST!*<. But many have invented school. Someone must have embraced it before the government. But the person/people who made it a law that kids have to go to school is the GOVERNMENT, as you may have guessed, they have ruined many other things. Some information from different sources are supplied here: (If you do not wish to dig into some info, please skip all of the paragraphs in quotation.) (the Seljuks introduced the Madrassa, a proper school built independently from the mosque. They were also the first to make the Madrassa system a public domain under the control of the caliph.
As a profession, teaching has very high levels of Work-Related Stress (WRS)[2] which are listed as amongst the highest of any profession in some countries, such as the United Kingdom. The degree of this problem is becoming increasingly recognized and support systems are being put into place.Teacher education is increasingly recognizing the need for new entrants to the profession to be aware of and trained to overcome the challenges that they will face on the 'mental health' front. Schools and their teachers have always been under pressure — for instance, pressure to cover the curriculum, to perform well in comparison to other schools, and to avoid the stigma of being "soft" or "spoiling" toward students. Forms of discipline, such as control over when students will and will not speak, and normalized behavior, such as raising one's hand to speak, are imposed in the name of greater efficiency. Practitioners of critical pedagogy point out that such disciplinary measures have no positive effect on student learning; indeed, some would argue that disciplinary practices actually detract from learning since they undermine students' individual dignity and sense of self-worth, the latter occupying a more primary role in students' hierarchy of needs. It was an Italian in 1843, by the name of Vinnie Scholars, and was named after him. 100 years ago you'd be saying "bye Mom, I'm off to scholars" but with time it gradually got changed to school. I hope this helps.School was invented in 1653 by Joseph Lariviere from France.
School was invented long ago by the Clergy
Rich folk used to send their kids to Seminary school to learn
In the US in 1660 the Clergy mandated that all kids over 8 go to school in the NE Unfortunately, we don't know which culture's school came first – many of them developed around the same time.
Past that, it's just been new takes on an old concept.
Kids attended school until either their parents needed them to get a job to help support the family, or until they (and their teachers) became frustrated enough to quit.
Then compulsory (all kids have to go) attendance started, along with the child labor laws; the law decided all kids should attend school until the age of 16, and should not be forced to work to support their families.
This law was developed based on the idea that EDUCATION IS A RIGHT! Education is an important element in being able to fully pursue happiness as adults.
It placed the individual's rights above the family's needs.
Would you rather still be in the late 1800's, working 14 hours per day in a factory without enough food to eat, just to help your parent(s) pay the rent and buy what little food they could?
Child labor laws and compulsory education protect children from hardships you can't even (obviously) imagine.
Well, I don't know exactly who invented public school, but Horace Mann lengthened the school year to about 9 months. The Equal education law pretty much is why kids have to go to school.
Thanks alot, Mr. Mann.
"Compulsory education is education which is required by the government."
Benjamin franklin invented the public school system, as for truancy or mandatory attendance this might have been established according to the individual states, and their needs. for example farming states requirements for attendance would be different then in NY.
Horace Mann created the first board of education so it's his fault mostly
For Western Civilization – meaning Europeans and Americans – Compulsory education was thought by the rulers of Prussia to be a task of the state. In 1763 Frederick II ("Frederick the Great" of Prussia) made schooling compulsory for all children between the ages of 5 and 13.
In Austria, mandatory primary education was introduced by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1774.
In Britain, compulsory state supported education for kids 5 to 10 was mandated

I Think I Know The Answer But Worth Asking. Can I Get Free Web Hosting And A Free Domain Name? Must Be 100% Fr?

you can use a site such as freewebs and then if you want a url redirecting service with your own domain name
for example if you want to make a website at freewebs the url would be
www.freewebs.com/SITENAME and if you use www.dot.tk as a redirecting service your new url can be www.SITENAME.tk for free.
and through dot.tk you can also get email domain forwarding (make an email like sam@sitename.tk and have it forwarded to your normal email!)

Can Anybody Please Tell Me If They Know If Regional Service Domain Names Are Worth Much Money??

Local region names like from large cities with a popular consumer need like chicagoskating, sanfranciscoguide.com, newyorkfootball.com, are worth $50-$500 bucks. The price can go as high as a twenty thousand dollars, and as low as 20 bucks. The regional names has to be easy to remember, spell and short enough in letters to be useful (and no dashes or numbers).
The market demand is based on the other companies/persons need. You might end up paying for domains that can not sell for years. But it takes only domain that someone needs to recoup your investment.
Go to this site to see examples. Enter in a few city names in the advance search:
Here are some example prices of regional names:
mychicagodogs.com – – $5
rechicago.info – – $5
mpchicago.com – – $10
gfechicago.com – – $10
ceeceechicago.com $10
chicagopie.com – – $800
chicagotravel.com – – $58,000
chicagoguard.com – – $700
chicagodryers.com – – $1,400
If the domain name is not as popular like maplecityhooks.com it not worth much. Keep in mind that regional domain names are not what they used to be. Now search engines want verbage on the region writtin in the web page. The regional name in teh domin is a very small part now.
*.com is alwas the best. ANy other domain name like ws, etc are good for that locality but .com’s are the stadnard defacto. And if you use a regional domain name, people will think .com not the regional. This is why regiional names are not worth anything.
