Domain names are worth only what someone else is willing to pay. Domain names that end in *.com are more valuable than other extensions. The shorter the address, the more the domain name is worth, IF the address actually says something, is easy to remember, etc. Typically, your name is listed as the owner of record on the sites/names you own. IF someone wants one of those names, they will contact you to see if you want to sell it. I have done that, but the owner and I disagreed greatly on the name’s worth. I just made up a new name, registered it and the site is up and running. Don’t count to highly on just a name being terribly valuable, it isn’t. But…if the name is attached to a site, and that site scores well in search engine searches, then you may have some real value. IF you have a site that, well..say, sells rhinestones. IF you were to type in ‘Rhinestones’ into Yahoo, and that site came up on the front page, trust that your site is worth a fortune. In fact, try it…you will find that Rhinestoneguy.com comes up first in the Non-paid site listings. That site is probably worth 1/2 million to a company that wants to sell rhinestones.
