Is It Worth Me Buying A Domain Name With Some Good Keywords In It To Forward Onto A Site I Own Already?

I run a website on a certain topic. I have the option of purchasing a different domain name which contains some important keywords for the site I own. Would it be beneficial to my current site’s search engine rankings for me to purchase this additional domain and set it up so it forwards automatically to my existing site?
Thanks in advance!

It really depends on the site, what it is about, and the type of content your site has.
In my experience if your site has value and provieds good content the domain name will not really matter.
If you are in a competitive niche (and you are in it for the long run) I would go with a unique but brandable domain name that is as short as possibe.
So it depends on your marketing strategy
whatever you do dont pick a domain name with dashes in it it will only help you shory term in the search engine game
I was developing my site and study-abroad-tips.com and it was getting traffic but I realized it wasn’t brandable (a domain name should be easy to remember for your visitors) I then changed it to a name that is not a real word but still has a keyword http://www.studyabroadica.com and this site has been getting a lot of traffic, is doing well, and already has page rank after a few weeks, oh and it is generating adsense income
So I would only change your domain name if it is long, has dashed, or isnt easy to brand and remember.
Otherwise just changing it to stuff in an extra keyword or to is actually looked down upon by google
best of luck hope it helps

the answer is definitely… Yes and No.
The bottom line is, you can get any domain name ranked for the keywords you want based on the content and on page optimization of the site, as well as links and and some other factors.
Here is what you want to consider…
Do you want to put all your energy and resources into optimizing one site and making it awesome? Or do you want to divide those resources into getting 2 sites ranked well enough to matter?
I’ve done it both ways, successfully, but I prefer the one site method.
It won’t hurt to add the keyword domain, it will just require your efforts to make it worthwhile.

    A million times, yes!!
There are alot of websites out there that own their own name, names similar to theirs, names spelled just a bit off, related topics, etc. If you go to Yahoo! you can purchase business domain names for $3 each. All of the searches that come up with your key words, similar phrases, etc will go to your main site.
Even if you pay ten times that per year for your domain name and “status” on search engines, you’d be doing yourself a favor if you make more than $3500 per year from your site. You may want to pay a programmer to set up a bot to see where your hits are generated from if you don’t already have that capability to see which names are making you the most money.

Hiya ~ keyword rich domain names can give a site a boost in search engine ranking, and may also appear more relevant to search engine users.
However, if your site relates to competitive keywords, the new domain is unlikely to rank very highly in search results without content and inbound links.
You may like to look at common misspellings of keywords to capture ‘direct type’ traffic and forward it to your site.
There’s a lot you can think about in terms of domain names and search engines. I’ve linked to some useful information resources below.

It is usually better to have a domain name contain the generic keywords which you are targetting. Also a good way if you want to
attract direct typein by end users. Search engine traffic is only part of the story. Check the useful articles below.http://www.sitefirms.com/domain-premium….http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/dom...
